The German Soldiers breadbag in detail

As with any quality re-enactment group, research is the key to portraying as accurately as possible a Deutsche Soldat (German Soldier) from World War Two. Our unit is no different as we set out to portray the rifle men of an armoured reconnaissance unit from the elite German 'Grossdeutschland' Division involved in heavy fighting on the Eastern front. To help recreate that look, it is important for us to focus all the aspects that encompass a Grenadier from the period. As in this case for example, we have displayed some typical items one might expect to be found carried by a Grenadier serving in the Grossdeutschland, either inside or suspended from his breadbag during life at the front.
